When Duncan accused Conrad of being gay, he was committing an ad hominem attack. No one expects a wingnut like Raven to understand that an ad hominem attack is not the same thing as expressing as opinion.

Heh. He called Raven a “wingnut”, then in the same breath accuses her of an ad hominem attack.
How do you talk out of both sides of your mouth like that? Does it hurt much?

Meaty must need the traffic today or something…

Err. Sure it is Meaty. My opinion is that Conrad must swing for the other team, if you catch my drift. Opinion, as you are all too aware since you dabble in it like a painter dabbles with fine paints, is not always based on hard facts.
(Note to all of those with an IQ above snail-s__t, {which excludes Meaty… EWWW, another ad hominem. Man, I must be the dumbest person in the world with absolutely no idea or defensible positions} Conrad was not interested in a debate. He pulled some numbers off the shelf, and decided it was time to somehow rub the current economic crisis (and congressional low approval ratings) in our face and “Blame Bush!™” for it all. What I gave him back was the equivalent returning the middle finger, which he originally gave me. But don’t expect Meaty to understand that. Doesn’t follow the narrative he’s painting in his own mind….)

“My opinion is that Conrad must swing for the other team…”
Look carefully at the sequence of events:
1) Conrad sends Duncan an email containing facts.
2) Duncan’s immediate response is to call Conrad a homosexual.
Intelligent human adults do not emulate fifth-graders hurling epithets at each other on the playground. Duncan is incapable of advancing past that mentality.
“Opinion… is not always based on hard facts.”
In this case, of course, Duncan’s opinion is based solely upon his inability to process the facts that Conrad provided.
“I must be the dumbest person in the world with absolutely no idea or defensible positions…”
I could not have stated a more cogent summary of Duncan’s intellectual abilities myself. Bravo, sir.

Profile of a WIMP…Meaty, when you decide to grow up and stop trying to hide behind IP’s, we might take you more seriously.
Here’s a screen shot of the email I just got notifying me of Meaty’s last comment needing to be approved.

Note the IP address. I clicked on the WHOIS link, just for laughs cause I know Meaty does these things…
Here’s where he likes to think he is hiding— the ole’ ARIN network.

I checked this sites actual stats and here is where Meaty’s ACTUAL IP is:

You mention childish games? Hiding behind a phoney IP is as childish as it gets Bonehead. Let’s play HIDE’N'SEEK!!!!
As for your argument about Duncan’s meaning in his post- not a winning debate. I question the facts as you call them, blindly, that were sent to Duncan in the first place. In your world of black and white though, when words presented in your political view’s favor, you believe them without question. Your world of solid science and objective data is faulty at best, and makes you a Kool Aid sipper extraordinaire.
Duncan, like YOU, has a right to hold an opinion of someone else. Duncan saw this email for what it was- a BLAME BUSH cup of BULLSHIT flavored tea…You don’t understand the concept of a middle finger, or as I simply say, “FUCK YOU!” as a response. You’re too sophisticated for that right?
…even though you think it’s neat to run around the playground hiding like a coward after you’ve made fun of another kid.
Fucking moron.

Yep. That sums Meaty up nicely. But wait Raven… that is an ad hominem. I wonder if Meaty has the wikipedia page to logical arguments/fallacies bookmarked so he can go run to it everytime he wants to use big latin words and sounds more intelligent.
As per the modus operandi (here’s a wikipedia link for you Meaty so you can learn what it means. No. Don’t thank me.. really.. don’t… it was my pleasure to spoon feed you.) of a mental midget like Meaty, he lurks in the corner of a typical troll until he can jump out with a “GOTCHA!”. And then, almost like the consumate politician, he stays on message even when you tell him that his premise is wrong. Then he returns to the very issue at hand, the use of ad hominems… with the use of his own… “Meaty the Mental Midget™”.. has a nice ring to it…
Or, being the typical liberal moonbat, he just objects more strongly to the use of calling someone a homosexual as a putdown. I bet that also rubs him wrong more than my simple use of an ad hominem.
What would have been truly interesting, and to show how much of a deep thinker Meaty is, would have been for Meaty to come in and say, “Wait a minute guys, I think you are missing the point, lets look at the last 8 years of Bush and lets talk about how these numbers really show (insert bat-sh!t crazy moonbat claim here).” What slays me is that Meaty just points his finger and says “HA! You returned the middle finger to someone who gave you one first! HA!”. He is obviously my intellectual better, using Meaty The Mental Midget™ logic ofcourse. Perhaps I should create his own wikipedia page so I can reference it everytime Meaty shows up to leave his troll droppings on the carpet here.
Simpleton.

“I question the facts as you call them, blindly, that were sent to Duncan in the first place.”
It’s easy, of course, for someone to say that they ‘question’ certain facts.
Far more difficult is showing that the facts presented are, in reality, false.
It surprises no one to observe that Raven chooses to employ only the least intellectually challenging of tactics.
January 11th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
I’m sure Raven employs those tactics only because they have the best possibility of being understood by certain people who clutter up this blog.
Just sayin’.

I think Duncan said that “Meaty swings for the other team.” That hardly implies homosexuality.
It almost certainly implies, however, there’s a TON of frightened farm animals in Ohio somewhere that need a reach-around.
