Thank You, President Bush
Posted by Raven on January 19th, 2009
Thank you President Bush, for keeping America safe.
“Freedom itself was attacked this morning by a faceless coward, and freedom will be defended.”
“I can hear you, the rest of the world can hear you and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.”
“I believe the most solemn duty of the American president is to protect the American people. If America shows uncertainty and weakness in this decade, the world will drift toward tragedy. This will not happen on my watch.”
“America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our people.”
“Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.”
“I sent American troops to Iraq to make its people free, not to make them American. Iraqis will write their own history and find their own way.”
“Some have argued that confronting the threat from Iraq could detract from the war against terror. To the contrary, confronting the threat posed by Iraq is crucial to winning the war on terror.”
“The true history of my administration will be written 50 years from now, and you and I will not be around to see it.”
“The momentum of freedom in our world is unmistakable – and it is not carried forward by our power alone. We can trust in that greater power Who guides the unfolding of the years. And in all that is to come, we can know that His purposes are just and true.”
Goodbye Sir. May God bless you and yours. We will miss you and your leadership. Thank you for putting America first, and for keeping this nation safe. You are forever etched in my mind as a true fearless leader.

Thanks for posting this tribute to President Bush! Hopefully he will realize that there is a lot of us sad to see him go.
My favorite picture was him visiting the troops, and their happiness on their faces. Doubt you’ll get that kind of reaction when Obama “visits” the troops.

Great pics, Raven. I agree, Scotty. The pic with the troops is the best of all.

Yeah, thanks fer gettin’ Osama, Bushie! Heckuva job! Oh, and good thinkin’, demotin’ that counter-terrorizm specialist and ignorin’ his calls fer uh principals level meetin’ on Al-Kiduh before nine eelevun!
You know, giving Bush credit for keeping us safe since sept. 11 is a little like rewarding the babysitter who lets the toddler wander into traffic the first hour she’s on the job, then herds all the remaining kids into the basement and locks them in to compensate. So when the parents get home, she says: “See, I kept them all safe after the toddler got run over.”

Despite any failings domestically that I believe George W. Bush had a hand in, this man has protected this nation and fought its enemies to keep the American people safe from further harm. The troops, despite the ops tempo, understand this and respect this great man. Thank You President Bush for being my Commander-in-Chief, and thank you for your service to this country. May God Bless you and yours.

I echo the above comments. President Bush has held firm on protecting American lives and defending American interests abroad in the face of the sirens of appeasement. While his domestic record will rightly face criticism, history will be kinder to him than the current opinion because of his steadfastness and constency in standing up to a ruthless terrorist movement. His basic decency as a man will be soon missed by our fellow Americans, who won’t appreciate what they had until it’s gone. Great pictures too.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Bush has done a few good things. However, he was warned about Al Qaeda before 9.11, and he wouldn’t give his counter-terrorism expert a principal-level meeting to discuss the threat. The reality is that he wasn’t concerned about Al Qaeda until after the attacks. Then, he went after the wrong enemy. Almost immediately after the attacks, Bush was looking for a way to tie it to Saddam.

Reasic, No, I don’t get you wrong. You’re the kind of person who likes to come as a guest into people’s living rooms and shit on the carpet. And the type who likes to join the mob in kicking a good man when he’s down. Don’t do it again here at ARS.

Thank God For President Bush and keeping this country safe

Yeah. Although, even if you agree with his policies, you would definitely have to say that his administration was largely responsible for the current Democratic majority in Congress and for Obama…seems to work against his own cause

Civil Truth, I thought Reasic was pretty polite. Which part of his statements did you not believe? Truth is truth. This is all well documented.
Also, nothing on the inauguration, huh? And you’d think from the graphics on this site that you all were “patriots”- I’d think a popular and peaceful inauguration would be something any patriot would celebrate.

Dee,
All I know is that since 9-11 (something that probably would not have happened had President Clinton not avoided dealing with the threat for his entire time in office), America has been safe at home for the eight years of the Bush presidency. Let’s see if Barry can match that.

Duncan: I’m still waiting for your response at Teach’s place about global warming. It’s been 4 days now.
Civil Truth: Was there something I said that was not truthful? I was simply disagreeing with the sentiment that Bush acted appropriately before the attacks, based on available evidence. Do you disagree?

I miss him already.

Hey reasic what is the link to the debate at Teach’s place. I want to see Duncan blow-off the work thousands of researchers just because he doesn’t like Al Gore (probably the only researcher Duncan can name). However, just because I don’t want Duncan to look like a fool, I suggest he go to PubMed and search for anything that has to do with climate research and start reading. Unless he thinks the whole world is out to fuck him in da butt this would be A LOT of research to just blow-off and still demand to be taken seriously. even more awesome is the fact that PubMed is tax payer funded so in some small way he’s helping to fund environmental research ha!

I’m sorry Reasic, but I am working and living, yet have not forgot your post. I know you are clicking with glee that you have me stumped, but forgive me for not posting. I’ve meant to actually go and look up your “evidence”, but just haven’t found the time and I really don’t want to go to DKos or Democratic Underground for my source documentation. Be patient. You’ll get your reply.

Hey Sam. Your mom called from upstairs. She says the the bulk orders of cheetoes and Jergens is in. Just be sure to wash your hands before you use the jergens… or you’ll find ‘things’ will get all orange…

What a beautiful tribute! This is best on the Web. What great pictures. Anyhow, we need to be more thankful than we are. He is a good man. He kept us safe from further attacks. He showed us grace under pressure and much courage. Sam:
The discussion is here:
http://www.thepiratescove.us/?comments_popup=7031
It started on another subject, but morphed into global warming.
Duncan:
1. I’m not concerned about stumping you. Many “skeptics” believe that “it’s the Sun”, or “there’s more water vapor”, but my research has proven to me that these are false. So, if you, Teach, or anyone else for that matter, has some new information to share with me that proves me wrong, I’m interested to see it. Teach is always talking about how HE’S the one who’s rational and “considers ALL the evidence”, but whenever I present him with a simple scientific rebuttal to his claims, he either dismisses it without explanation, or completely ignores it. Then, he ends up making the same arguments later on. I just want someone — anyone — to explain to me if these rebuttals are not convincing, why not? Maybe, just maybe, if you can’t find a good counter point, everything you thought you knew about our climate isn’t true. It’s possible. I’m just saying…
2. I do NOT — I repeat, DO NOT — even go to DKos or Democratic Underground, much less get any information from those sources on global warming. Some good sources to start at are the IPCC, RealClimate, Open Mind, Deltoid, Gristmill, Rabbett Run, and Stoat. RealClimate even provides a starter source:
http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/05/start-here/
However, I always try to trace all arguments to either recent research or sound fundamentals of climate science. Don’t just dismiss the sources because you disagree with them. Give them the same consideration that you have any skeptical sources, such as ClimateAudit, Anthony Watts, Icecap, CO2science, Lubos Motl, or the Pielkes, and see which argument you think carries more weight.
I agree that there are some very good arguments from knowledgeable skeptics against the worst case scenarios provided by people like Al Gore and James Hansen, but the majority of the common “skeptical” arguments directly contradict the basics of climate science. The FACT is that the Sun is not currently a primary driver of our climate (as signified by a cooling stratosphere), and water vapor is a feedback, which means if amplifies the effects of other forcings, rather than causes changes in climate (due to its very short atmospheric lifetime). I will agree with you that we probably won’t see the extreme case of a 20 ft sea level rise (which is based on a worst case future emissions/technological advancement scenario), if you’ll meet me halfway and agree that water vapor does not drive changes in our climate — not for the sake of compromise, but because that’s sound science. Then, maybe we can discuss other aspects of climate science and develop a mutual understanding that is based on scientific research instead of ideology.

What a great tribute to Pres. Bush! thanks so much – the pics were awesome. This is a man who truly loves his country and all it stood for. Sure I didn’t agree with everything but he kept this country safe the last 7 yrs. And for that , I thank him.
(now why in the world are people trying to argue about gloabal warming? seriously – what does the global warming farce have to do with this post? Someone’s trying to be annoying……..)

Thank you, former President Bush, for being, IMO, the best President we have had in years. Thank you for all you did for us, despite the overwhelming masses who are influenced in their opinions by a liberal, godless media. Hopefully, one day people will have their eyes opened and see what a great job you did.

Thank you President Bush for leading the free world in the brave, resolved and compassionate way you did.
