Wolves Selling “The American Flag, Mom, and Apple Pie”

Posted by Duncan on February 8th, 2009

Hoping you won’t notice that they’re wolves.

Go to this website. I’ll be waiting for when you get back.

Yep. Country music. American flags waving in the breeze. We’re even talking about being “Born Again Americans”. Well, any one who even has turned quickly through the channels and stayed on a televangelists station for 1.5 seconds has heard the term “born again”, and know that it is a term normally used by Christians to describe their acceptance of Jesus Christ.

So who exactly are these people trying to reach out to? It sure as hell ain’t the lefties in San Fransisco so much as it is middle, “Red State” America. And who are these people that are running this site anyways? Perhaps they’re just good, loving conservative Christians trying to bring us back to our Federalist roots as the Constitution lays out? Nope. Not so much.

From a link on the “Take The Next Step” menu on bornagainamerican.com we get to go to the People for the American Way’s website. And who are the People for the American Way? Sounds like a group I’d want to be a part of!

Not so much.

“Purpose

PFAW was created as an advocacy group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people. It has also been active in recent years in battles over judicial nominations and on issues including school class size, separation of church and state, civil rights, voting rights for Washington, DC, in the U.S. Congress, while its main purpose is equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) people, and promotion of civic participation.

People For describes itself as “an energetic advocate for the values and institutions that sustain a diverse democratic society … threatened by the influence of the radical right and its allies who have risen to political power.”[1] Its principal targets have been Religious Right organizations such as Christian Voice (USA), Moral Majority, and Focus on the Family.

History

PFAW was founded by television producer Norman Lear (All in the Family, Maude, The Jeffersons, etc.) in 1981 specifically to attack the efforts of the religious right as an advocacy group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people. According to People For’s website, Lear was particularly concerned with the growing number of televangelists such as Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. Co-founders included Barbara Jordan, Andrew Heiskell, and other leaders from the political, religious, business, and entertainment communities.”

Sure. Its a wikipedia entry. Perhaps it is biased in some way. Well, the People for the American Way had this to say about Rick Warren and the invocation brouhaha:

People For the American Way President Kathryn Kolbert responded today to the news that Rev. Rick Warren of Saddleback Church will deliver the invocation at the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama:

It is a grave disappointment to learn that pastor Rick Warren will give the invocation at the inauguration of Barack Obama.

Pastor Warren, while enjoying a reputation as a moderate based on his affable personality and his church’s engagement on issues like AIDS in Africa, has said that the real difference between James Dobson and himself is one of tone rather than substance. He has recently compared marriage by loving and committed same-sex couples to incest and pedophilia. He has repeated the Religious Right’s big lie that supporters of equality for gay Americans are out to silence pastors. He has called Christians who advance a social gospel Marxists. He is adamantly opposed to women having a legal right to choose an abortion.”

Yeah. This is indeed troubling. This group is anything but conservative, or Christian, yet they have definitely set up a site that is duping conservative Christians in middle America. How do I know this? Because I got this is an email forward from my own mother, and from looking at the trail of prior forwards, this is not from a group of tofu-eating, Birkenstock wearing, anti-war, flag burning hippies.

Earlier today I was listening to my audiobook copy of 1984, and after seeing this, I realized I was suddenly seeing the actual use of newspeak by this group. Might as well call them the Ministry of Truth and get it over with…

There’s lots of sites like this. One has to do a little research to find out WHO is really behind these; who supports and pays for…

It pays to Google people who own domains and manage sites- we can learn much. I am very careful about who gets my money or other support- I’ve been duped once and it’ll never happen again.

Some of the so called Military support sites are run by liberal anti war groups and they take money to pay for the protests. Gotta be careful.

There is not one conservative Christian represented in that video. Ad to that a bimbo trying to convince you that auto workers are making the same money today as they did in 1948 and you know where the message is coming from. I guess I’m just anothr right wing radicalbecause I believe the American Communist Party when they say “We don’t have to run any more candidates; the Democrat Party is carrying our message”.
