For Real This Time?

Longtime NFL quarterback Brett Favre has told the New York Jets that he is retiring. This past season was his only one with the Jets, after spending most of his career with the Green Bay Packers. Favre had previously announced his retirement after his last season with the Packers, but changed his mind, and was traded to the Jets.
“It sucks getting old,” he said. “At 40 years old, your mind tells you that you can do all the things you could in your younger years but the body doesn’t cooperate.”
Being even older, I can definitely relate, although my football play was relegated to informal pick-up games, and my main recreational team sport has been softball.
Lest I forget, here’s my all-time favorite play from Brett Farve, coming in Super Bowl XXXI.
Green Bay struck again 56 seconds into the second quarter as Favre hit Antonio Freeman with a Super Bowl-record 81-yard touchdown bomb.
Why is this my favorite? I admit that part of the reason is that Antonio Freeman played his college ball at my alma mater, Virginia Tech.

And at 40 Favre was still better than some of the guys that are almost half his age. But honestly, despite his love of the game and his intense desire to win/compete, I think he should have stayed retired and left his legacy with the Packers, like Marino did with the Dolphins.

I’m no Jets fan (Giants fan), but, now they have no quarterback. They kinda screwed themselves.

Call it quits Bret. And this time, for real because this becomes a game no one likes to watch. You’re either in or you’re out.
LOL stop acting like a girl! Make a decision and stick with it.
