Original Post:

I recently had my air ducts cleaned. For each duct, the worker removed the grill, sent down a vacuum hose to remove loose dust, removed the hose and sent down a rotary brush, removed the brush and used the hose a second time, and finally sent down a sanitizer mist. He also cut a hole in the large duct upon which my inside unit sits, and vacuumed the inside. Being the lowest spot in the system, it would have accumulated lots of debris. He covered it with a piece of sheet metal and duct tape, which can be removed the next time I get this type of work done.

Ah the joys of this stuff. LOL I just had new carpet put into a room where I live, and I hated having to clear it out…then put it all back.

Most of my floors are hardwood. I prefer wood even though it can be a PITA to keep up; carpeting is, for me, a big germ and bug infested breeding ground.

Air ducts need to be cleaned yearly up here-and with good reason. Better to keep them spotless than to allow even a little build up- many allergies and “sicknesses” are actually caused by blocked, even slightly, air ducts. Mold will grow in them too- make sure they check for and clean this crap too.
