Saturday AM Links & News

icestorm
The Ice Storm of December of last year is still reeling in people’s mind. Many thousands were without power for 10, 12, 15 plus days. There’s a coffee table book that’s been published that shows the beauty and destruction of the storm- I’m not sure too many people really want to remember this event.

FairPoint: My ISP. They took over Verizon’s network and couldn’t handle it. A LOT of people are really angry at the failures and inconsistent performance. I had problems with email off and on…and then connectivity. Overall, it’s been an ok experience for me.

Rick Moran on Alzheimer’s Disease: It’s up front and politically personal.

This is good: State officials baffled by stimulus job estimates Well honestly a lot of people are just as baffled. But expectations are VERY high than Barry will save jobs and end layoffs. Let’s see if the Messiah will deliver.

The duty to kill others who are not productive members of society. Sickening.

Barry’s concessions-demands will piss off the auto worker unions…this could have a ripple effect for all unions. (good)

No more Freedom Tower. It’s back to the WTC.

…women today are a complex combination of altruistic and materialistic, vain and insecure, loyal and self-serving.

Conservatives have a fetish for Snuggies?!? Not me. I prefer my wool trapper blanket.

Stupid Meaty: Compare and contrast? He simplifies everything in his typical disingenuous manner and like all liberals, refuses to discuss the real meat of an issue. The GOP’s Road to Recovery Plan (PDF) is full of a lot more details than a libtard can digest, I suppose. To be honest, the RTR Plan has the look and feel of Barry’s fancy scrolled documents. Thanks to Gribbit for the RTR link.

YOU TUBE OF THE DAY:

We’ve been warned:

Raed tihs:
“Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteers be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.”

WTF???

…Further, if you have enough money in the bank to pay for your own food, you should do that before running to the government for assistance. Yet running to the government is clearly what happened in the Warren County case that got the whole controversy rolling. There are now reports of similar examples coming in from other Ohio counties. In theory (but again, in relatively limited situations), there appears to be no reason why an applicant with $1 million in liquid assets couldn’t apply for benefits and get them.

The Republicans finally have a plan eh? Sure, its different than the Democrats, but is it any less populist in its tone?

On page 8, Health Care Reform, I find the words “leveling the playing field”. I see where the “wealthy” seniors can afford to pay more for their drugs, as if George Soros or Warren Buffet actually take advantage of the entitlements and any strings that come attached.

I think that their tax plan is somewhat more palatable with it resembling more of a flat tax rate of 10% to 100,000%, but I was somewhat surprised to see a jump Superman-like leap-over-tall-buildings in the tax rate to 25% once you make 100,001 dollars. Still better than the tax-tax-tax-and-spend-spend-spend-borrow-print-spend that the Democrats want however. A Fair Tax, or consumption-only tax, is the best way in my humble opinion. They’re also against the death tax as well, which is awesome since that money has already been taxed once by Uncle Sam.

Their other solutions are ones that we’ve already heard from GOP leadership concerning energy (drill, baby, drill while working towards a “comprehensive” energy infrastructure) and spending. The GOP is talking a good talk about clamping down on government largess, yet are they trustworthy after their own drunken, spending orgies? If they earn back enough of the American people’s trust to win back Congress, and eventually the White House, I doubt that they will be able to fix/remove all of the expensive and expansive entitlement programs the Obama and Co. will lay the ground work for. Though they’d better try to dismantle them, and try to stop the spending that gave the Democrats the excuse “but George W. Bush did it, so there.”

I don’t even bother with Meaty anymore, especially since I banned him :)

The dude has to steal the “shorter ….” from Sadly, No. Rather sad.

Comment 1: His Hollowness can rightly claim every job not lost as a job saved, in which case he could at this moment claim to have saved at least 100,000,000 jobs. Sleazebucket.

Comment 2: I have some neighbors right down the street who are not productive, and by their socialist rantings are probably brain dead to boot. Do they count in the “duty to kill others” column?
