than to lay down his life for his friends.
And Capt. Phillips did just that for his crew.
And now he has been rescued. Prayers have been answered, of that I am sure.
And three pirates assume room temperature.
What a wonderful Easter afternoon.

Thanks to the Navy Seals who did the hard work here…and yeah- 3 of the 4 pirates are dead. Now, what to do to prevent this from happening and continuing? I say ships need to arm themselves to protect their crew, cargo and international security. When a little tiny boat with a handful of freaks can overtake a big huge freight liner, something is wrong.

Blackfive reports:
The standing authority gave them clearance to engage the pirates if the life of the captain was in imminent danger. The on scene commander deemed this to be true and gave the order to fire. All three bad guys were taken out and then a rigid inflatable boat went to the lifeboat to retrieve Phillips. Iti is unknown at this point whether the shooters were SEALs or Marine Scout Snipers as both would have been available. This was not a rescue attempt ordered by National Command Authority i.e. the President. It was a reaction by the on scene commander under standard authority to safeguard the life of a hostage.

They were SEALs. Any word on the logistics of the shooting? That is, detail on how they were able to shoot all 3 so quickly without the pirates being able to get off a shot?
