Obligatory “Obama wins Peace Prize” Post
Posted by Duncan on October 9th, 2009
Obama wins the Noble Peace Prize???? You got to be kidding me! I wonder if he’ll be nominated for the Heisman or an Oscar?!? He’ll probably win them both too.
Ya know, had the President actually brokered peace, somewhere in the world, then this would have actually been a shoe in for him. Instead, what actually won this was a combination of a campaign slogan of “Hope and Change™”, not being George W. Bush, and Apology Tour 2009™. Seriously. He’d only been President for what, two weeks before the nomination deadline of Feb 1st, 2009?
This prize has now, finally, had the coffin nailed shut of relevancy…
Some of my favorite snarky quips that Michelle Malkin found:
He’s Becoming Jimmy Carter Faster Than Jimmy Carter Did.
Where’s Kanye West when you need him?
And my personal favorite:
When told in an email from Reuters that many people around the world were stunned by the announcement, Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, responded: “As are we.”
Seriously people. I don’t want to hammer President Obama for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. I don’t.
Ok. The snark is fun. I’ll admit that. However, do they, the Nobel Committee, think that the world is this DUMB? When the White House, along with most of the “world”, is “stunned” that the President won it, you know that the Committee has definitely overplayed their hand with this and the Peace Prize has ceased to mean anything except to pad the resume of the winner…

OK, if you thought Duh-1 was insufferable before, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.
And I can’t see why everyone is stunned at this. Why, in the last 9 months Duh-1’s accomplished at least as much as he had in the previous 4 years as a state senator and then as the junior senator from the state of the Machine.
All of which is more than sufficient to sell, I mean award, the prize to one who is so obviously superior to every other living creature.

HAHAHAH! That Kanye West comment made my day!
Too bad there isn’t anything funny about this situation aside from the commentary made upon it.
The audacity of the global elite even ceases to drop my jaw, where they announce publicly that Obama’s received this award for his blatant subversion of the Constitution he swore to protect and preserve, and his pathetic pandering to international, sovereignty robbing international organizations such as the U.N. “You’ve made excellent progress selling America out thus far, keep it up!” There’s a game I found earlier this week that is built around Obama’s distain for the Constitution and his determination to destroy it, it’s called “2011: Obama’s Coup Fails”, you can google it.
Everything about this is sickening and it’s prudent for Americans to be wary of American Nobel winners for some time now, because an examination of their record will clearly show the most they’re fit to be awarded with is charges of treason.

Is there anything that President Obama can do right? Other than resign?

When I learned about this, I had to check my calendar to make sure I hadn’t been timewarped back to April 1st.
Mary Anne, I’ve been asking your question for 8 years – about President Bush. I will have no problem giving President Obama credit where it’s due, but I don’t see where he has done anything to merit this prize. That’s not to fault Obama, but to fault the Nobel Committee. I thought there was something wrong with that bunch, and now they have removed all doubt.

Mary Anne,
I agree with Bigfoot, this is not on Obama (really, at all) as much as its on the Nobel Committee. They’ve jumped the shark when they gave this prize to him. It is now meaningless as a “peace” prize. It is a purely political gift to those that the Committee agrees with, with no real consideration to actual accomplishments. I know you think I hate President Obama and he can do nothing
rightcorrect, but you are wrong. I have no animosity towards Obama the man. I have plenty of animosity to his policies and the direction he wishes to take this country. As long as he continues those agendas, I will oppose him every step of the way. When he makes sound decisions, even I don’t agree with them, I will give him credit….October 10th, 2009 at 3:06 am
Cameo appearance here…
The most insightful commentary I’ve seen that puts the whole matter in context was John Podhoretz writing The Michael Moore of Oslo in which he explained just why Obama’s receipt of the Nobel Peace Prize was totally in keeping with the committee’s current

Obama should not have accepted. If he had any class, that is. This is about as embarrassing as it gets for me and this country; yrs from now it will be said that this idiot “won” the award for doing nothing- and accepted it hoping it would help him get things done. I feel shame and those who have truly earned it in the past are now marginalized forever.
Obama sucks. And yes, short of resigning there is nothing this man can do that will please me.

yes. If it had been John “Silky Pony” Edwards, as white bread as it comes, who was President, I’d be cheering the big government spending, attempts to hamstring us with global warming Cap and Trade legislation, and the attempts to pass the progressive holy grail of universal health care. Yeah, we’d be cheering. Just like i was cheering for former Vice President Al Gore when he won the Nobel. And Al Gore is white. Except that I wasn’t cheering for him. Or for President Jimmy Carter. Who is also white. No cheering from this guy when those two “white guys” won the award… hmm.. I see a theme here, and it has nothing to do with skin pigmentation…
Lucky for me you are not the Almighty, so I’m not very worried…
oh, and how do you know that I am not? Are you making the assumption because I am classically liberal and against Obama that I am white? Pretty much a prejudicial thought process I’d say. Almost racist, as if black people are unable to hold such views… perhaps all of your racial demagoguery is simply some projection from you there…..

The crap about racism is getting pretty tired. If people would stop being so prideful and accusing those of us who don’t want to live in a Banana Republic without having to move of racism because we are trying to fight for what The Constitution guarantees we should have then we could talk reasonably. As it is, its clear that someone bought this Noble for Obama. He was in office for 12 days when he was nominated! Even the Noble Committee is not that out of touch. There is a reason that Barack got the award and it gives him cover in other areas. Look closely at what legislation was pushed out of the news cycle by this…The Matthew Sheppard rider to the defense bill, which establishes the first ever Thought Crime in the USA. Obama, and more accurately whoever holds his puppet strings and bought the award, are astute enough to know the long term value of this award, and more especially the timing of it in this case; this is more than just a nice thing to have on a CV or written in an obituary.
One thing I will say for sure, Barack obviously deserved this award; It is meaningless and a total sham and has been for decades now.

Nobel, Nobel….I apologize for my lack of proofreading before posting.

The ironic thing is that the people that the Nobel Prize award will impress were already impressed anyway.
The rest of us are simply sickened further than we were before the awarding of the prize.

Of the many poorly stated opinions in your rant, Chris Brown, this one is the poorest: “Or wasn’t he the reason Gas went sky high…”
Have you ever heard of “supply and demand”? It’s a fairly simple concept, really, that in its purest form means prices for commodities will rise as the demand rises, and prices for those same commodities will fall as demand falls; in other words, supply and demand are inversely proportional concerning price.
It seems to me Mr. Bush wanted the United States to become less dependent upon foreign sources of oil because those foreign sources could manipulate supplies at will. To do that he advocated opening vast areas of known reserves to drilling, exploration and processing, and also advocated building new, modern and environmentally clean refineries.
IT WAS THE DEMOCRATS/ENVIROWHACKOS/SOCIALISTS who constantly blocked any attempts to increase our own supplies of oil.
But don’t let me confuse you here. Go back and look at the voting records in Congress, and try to figure out if, were we to produce more oil and refine it ourselves, maybe, just maybe, oil prices (and consequently gasoline prices) wouldn’t have gone through the roof last year.
That doesn’t take a genius. Are you up to it?
