First Failed “State”?

Posted by Duncan on October 10th, 2009

I’m beginning to think so.

California Budget Is Already in the Red 10 Weeks After Passage

Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) — California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will know within a month whether a $1.1 billion drop in revenue collections is part of a growing budget shortfall or an isolated event, his budget spokesman said.

Revenue in the three months ended Sept. 30 was 5.3 percent less than assumed in the $85 billion annual budget, state controller John Chiang reported yesterday. Income tax receipts led the gap, as unemployment reached 12.2 percent in August.

Ofcourse, they’re only in that shape because they can’t print more money like D.C. I’m beginning to wonder, and in fact, I’m going to ask you guys, when do you think they (California) will come running to Uncle Sam for a bail-out (ie; taking money from other states to save their own necks due to their fiscal irresponsibility)? Any takers?

I say let them go broke and fend for themselves. I for one, among millions I know, are sick and tired of bailing out these irresponsible money wasters. And I also encourage every CA citizen I know to move the hell out of that state and live free for once.

    Raven,

The problem is, too many will move to other states (like from Massachusetts to New Hampshire, Frees State Project) and the cycle begins all anew as they begin to vote the same and elect Democrats and/or Big Government Republicans. We have a bunch of Californians moving to Austin, for instance. Now, that is not a bad thing as long as they stay in Austin, which is already weird and hippie-fied, but if they move here in large numbers, then w’ere just as screwed.

Oregon has been Californicated for years. Heck, I remember back in mid-century my dad complaining about all the Californicaters moving here and driving property prices through the (relative) roof even back then.

Worse for California, they don’t have the logical brain power to figure out that all industry (except, of course, Hollyweird) will be moving out of the state as soon as they can (to anywhere but California) and no new industry will be moving in, making their financial situation geometrically worse.

Just think: then all the criminal aliens they’ve been coddling will either have to go back home (no more free everything) or move to another state and try to bankrupt it, too.
