In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president.

"We'd follow you to Hell, sir, but you damned sure didn't go that direction."
With the Holiday season, things have been pretty slow around here. This is certainly understandable, since we all have our familial duties this time of year. But someone has to get in the first post of 2010.
For me, Christmas means visiting with my parents and seeing the extended clan down in Virginia. This year, it also meant getting rid of snow on the side of the street in front of their house, and from on top of dad’s car. Various siblings had already shoveled their driveway. Meanwhile, I had cleared about 20 inches of snow from my sidewalk and car back in Maryland, and thus brought some recent experience to the task. Fortunately, the day was sunny, with temperatures above freezing, allowing me to leave some of the snow to melt away. Read the rest of this entry »
First of all, its is the beginning of what is going to be my five day weekend, which means I’m gonna get hammered with my “Honey-Do” list that I’ve been neglecting. Starting off is painting the hallway and the living room. But, as I am a master procrastinator, I am going to publish some Friday Morning links that I found interesting….
First off:
Jake Tapper and ABC News are realizing that the honeymoon is over and the Obama Administration is releasing its own version of events, sans reporters. Sounds a little like “state-run media” to me, something tin-pot dictators of banana republics do. After carrying the President all election year, you’d think he’d give them the decency of a reach-around… to quote the gunny from Full Metal Jacket… yeah, I know its crude… but the analogy fits..
Apparently the GPS system that the world relies on for navigation, from regular shmoes in their car with their TomTom, to commercial airliners and then to GPS-guided munitions, is teetering on collapse. As far as the aviation world is concerned, there has been talk of going away from terrestial-based navigation aids which cost $$$$ to run and maintain when there is such an accurate way to navigate through the GPS system. I’ve wondered what would happen if they were to do that. And now with the system about to fail, or experience failures (or be jammed/disrupted by our enemies in a time of war), I don’t think it wise to put our eggs all in one basket…
USA to lose its AAA rating. “Hope and Change You Can Believe In™” indeed… Luckily the President and his administration realize that the 700 billion TARP monies are not available to failing/bankrupt states who can’t balance their budget or cut spending to their plethora of welfare/social programs… ofcourse, the article goes on to say that Secretary Geithner will “work” with Congress to try and use taxpayer dollars to help states who can’t be fiscally sound in their spending… awesome… I get to bail out California and others….
Winter 2008 is DONE. And I won’t miss it. IT was long, and bitter. And cold. Hearty New Englanders handled this season as we do the others: With a smile and a groan sometimes.
It started out with a bang…an ice storm that knocked power out for tens of thousands, for over 15 days in some locations. Yet, we managed to drive to and from work every day of it.
You know it’s spring in NH when you see thousands of these bushes: Forsythia…which I personally think are ugly flowering weeds. They’re EVERYWHERE! It was hot over the past weekend, and these eyesores popped up even more- you can’t escape them.
Tomorrow one of my favorite PLACES to shop OPENS up for the season. It’s an old fashioned New England style farm- that sells produce, herbs, flowers and garden goods galore: Lull Farm in Hollis NH. When this farm opens up, it’s SPRING.
UPDATE: New carpet is in… atleast about 95% anyways. Just one room and some closets. So everything is getting unpacked and resettled. Yay.
Original Post:
Getting new carpet put in today and tomorrow, so things look like we’re moving again. The dog is freakin out thinking, oh dear, not again. Anyways, I’ll be offline as things will be torn up and out and everywhere for the next day or so. But fear not.. I shall return…
So until then.. enjoy crazy asian woman missing her flight….
I found an article at the NYT about desks. Yep. The boring desk- and the article bored me to no end as it was about modern plastic and steel, butt ugly, obnoxiously colored tables they call….recession desks.
I love spring in New England. I suppose it’s like this everywhere but I only know of my area..there is nothing as serene as a cool morning around my little world. Mind you, we could easily get three feet of snow tomorrow.
