Obama: Americans Aren’t Worth It

Posted by Raven on 18th June 2008

Liberal stuffs of the day:

WASHINGTON — A defiant Barack Obama said Tuesday he would take no lectures from Republicans on which candidate would keep the U.S. safer, a sharp rebuke to John McCain’s aides who said the Democrat had a naive, Sept. 10 mind-set toward terrorism.

“These are the same guys who helped to engineer the distraction of the war in Iraq at a time when we could have pinned down the people who actually committed 9/11,” the presumed nominee told reporters aboard his campaign plane. “This is the same kind of fear-mongering that got us into Iraq … and it’s exactly that failed foreign policy I want to reverse.”

Stupid.

Obama said the government can crack down on terrorists “within the constraints of our Constitution.” He mentioned the indefinite detention of Guantanamo Bay detainees, contrasting their treatment with the prosecution of the 1993 World Trade Center bombings.

“And, you know, let’s take the example of Guantanamo,” Obama said. “What we know is that, in previous terrorist attacks — for example, the first attack against the World Trade Center — we were able to arrest those responsible, put them on trial. They are currently in U.S. prisons, incapacitated.

“And the fact that the administration has not tried to do that has created a situation where not only have we never actually put many of these folks on trial, but we have destroyed our credibility when it comes to rule of law all around the world, and given a huge boost to terrorist recruitment in countries that say, ‘Look, this is how the United States treats Muslims. …

“We could have done the exact same thing, but done it in a way that was consistent with our laws,” Obama said.

He has just said this to Americans:

Nanny Knows Best

Posted by Raven on 18th June 2008

We report. You decide.

From the Nanny Staters:

Okay. Good. Intentions. Well, maybe.

Now, read this and think about it. ALL THIS MONEY, EFFORT, TESTING, LAWSUITS and the like is what we get when these laws are put into place. For what? The once a week trek to Wendy’s?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And the simple truth of the matter is this:

…we buy just six of our 21 weekly meals from restaurants. Put another way, menu labeling laws mean nutritional information will be slapped in front of the average American for about three of every 100 meals. We aren’t getting fatter because there aren’t fat-count stickers on our Big Mac wrappers — as if most of us didn’t already know a Big Mac isn’t the most nutritious meal anyway.

Actually we don’t eat out 21 meals a week. The point here is valid. Why go to all this trouble when food/calorie intake is only ONE part of our supposed obesity problem? The Nannies want us all to believe if we starve ourselves, okay LIMIT ourselves to what we eat, we’ll be skinny perfect beings. It ain’t so! Exercise, movement and lifestyle changes are what is needed more than anything else. Of course the Nannies would regulate all those aspects of life if they could get away with it…and don’t be shocked when they start doing just that.

Fellow Demonstrators: We Might be Pooping Our Panties

Posted by Raven on 17th June 2008

Planning to demonstrate? Are you an activist? Watch out for the governments’ latest weapon of choice. It’s harmless, really, but causes some embarrASSment in many senses of the word.

Political activists planning protest rallies at the upcoming Democratic Convention in Denver have their stomachs in knots over a rumor about a crowd control weapon - known as the “crap cannon” - that might be unleashed against them.

Also called “Brown Note,” it is believed to be an infrasound frequency that debilitates a person by making them defecate involuntarily.

First of all, I seriously doubt this “weapon” exists as described. In fact, Mythbusters says it is not. Too bad, though. This would make an excellent weapon of MY choice to use against the losers who have planned the re-Create-68 demonstrations in Denver.

But Glenn Spangnuolo, also with Re-create 68, isn’t taking any chances. He said he has no doubt that Brown Note exists, and is preparing his group for confrontation. “Whether it causes someone to defecate in their pants or not, I don’t know that,” said Spagnuolo. “What I do know is that it causes a person to be disoriented and lose their equilibrium resulting in a nauseous feeling in their stomach.”

More troubling to Spagnuolo is the “Active Denial System” or “ADS,” a ray gun used to send high levels of microwave frequencies that cause a burning sensation the skin.

He described ADS as an “indiscriminate weapon” and said “there’s no long-term testing on what happens to the body when exposed to those kinds of microwave frequencies.”

Glenn has a big ego. I posted about this so called demonstration months ago and he commented; since then he has visited this site frequently, using search terms that include his name.

Have a Hulkin Cigar

Posted by Raven on 16th June 2008

Nanny state stuff of the day:

The American Medical Association is hulking mad at Marvel Studios.

Last week, the advocacy arm of the powerful physicians’ group unleashed a tsk-tsk campaign against “The Incredible Hulk,” a Marvel film that opened on Friday and is distributed by Universal Pictures. The complaint was of “gratuitous depictions of smoking.”

In the movie, which drew a PG-13 rating from the Motion Picture Association of America, Gen. Thunderbolt Ross, a bad guy played by William Hurt, is rarely seen without a smoke-spewing cigar. (Presumably, the physicians’ association worries that children who identify with the authoritarian general — who wants to annihilate the Hulk, played by Edward Norton — may be tempted to pick up the habit.)

Uh oh.
This song was heard all over my town this morning when I went to the diner. Does this mean whoever was listening to this tune should expect a whopping slap on the wrist from the AMA??

Dads: Be Dads, says Obama

Posted by Raven on 16th June 2008

Liberal Stuffs of the Day:

CHICAGO — Barack Obama celebrated Father’s Day by calling on black fathers, who he said are “missing from too many lives and too many homes,” to become active in raising their children.

“They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it,” the Democratic presidential candidate said Sunday at a largely black church in his hometown.

Once again the Obomb drops a big one. He sends mixed signals with this message, which is a very good message…but doesn’t jive with his political affiliation. Obama needs to look no further than his own Democrat party positions to ask WHY the men are acting like boyz; why they reject their kids.

Read Civil Truth’s Sermon from yesterday to ponder this further.

Right Wingers are Better People

Posted by Raven on 16th June 2008

A most excellent read. If you’re a liberal though, you might not agree with my assessment. LOL!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

There is plenty of data that shows that Right-wingers are happier, more generous to charities, less likely to commit suicide - and even hug their children more than those on the Left. In my experience, they are also more honest, friendly and well-adjusted.

Much of this springs from the destructive influence of modern liberal ideas.

In the Sixties, we saw the beginning of a narcissism and self-absorption that gripped the Left and has not let go.

The full-scale embrace of the importance of self-awareness, self-discovery and being ‘true’ to oneself, along with the idea that the State should care for the less fortunate, has created a swathe of Left-wing people who want to outsource their obligations to others.

Ouch! There is much more to read though, and it’s all the cold hard truth. I used to call myself a liberal and it brings me much shame. Thankfully I saw the right light and came to it, and have been a better person ever since.

ABC News - Lets get together and say the sky is falling..

Posted by Duncan on 15th June 2008

Seriously.

Are we living in the last century of our civilization? Is it possible that all of our technology, knowledge and wealth cannot save us from ourselves? Could our society actually be heading towards collapse?

According to many of the world’s top scientists, the answer is yes, unless we take action now.

….

Experts say that extreme changes in climate, combined with dwindling resources, famine, war and disease have the potential to create a post-apocalyptic world in less than a hundred years.

Envision all of the worst parts of Waterworld, The Day After Tomorrow, An Inconvenient Truth (or a Convenient Lie, depending on how you look at it) and Planet of the Apes. At least to many of the “world’s top scientists”.

“We really have less than a decade to start getting this right. If we’re still dragging our feet in 2015 I think it really becomes at that point almost impossible for the world to avert a degree of climate change that we simply will not be able to manage without intolerable cost and consequences.”

Be wary of any salesman when he tells you that you better take advantage of this deal cuz it might not be around tomorrow. And don’t make any mistake, all of this man-made climate change propaganda is little more than a sales pitch. Either you’re gonna buy it or….

But here’s my favorite line… oh the irony…

In order to avoid this chilling future, we have to first imagine it.

Didja see it? Chilling. In a piece about global WARMING

In an unprecedented Internet event, ABC is inviting people from around the world to bring the future to life.

We are asking you to use your imagination to create short videos about what it would be like to live through the next century if we stay on our current path. Using predictions from top experts, we will brief participants on global conditions in the years 2015, 2050, 2070 and 2100 — and we want you to describe the dangers that are unfolding before your eyes.

Submitted videos will be combined with the projections of top scientists, historians, and economists to form a powerful Web-based narrative about the perils of our future. We will also select the most compelling reports to form the backbone of our two-hour primetime ABC News broadcast: Earth 2100, airing this fall.

YEEARRCHermmmmphh.

What you just read was the sound of me throwing up a little in my mouth.

Are you kidding me? ABC News has practically invited every wierdo and eco-hippie to come out of the woodworks and add to the mass hysteria of Chicken Little Science (which I will refer to any time instead of Global Cooling, er.. Global Warming, er… Climate Change {beware the salesman when he changes the name of his product in the middle of his sales pitch}). It almost pains me to watch this cultlike phenomena develop. I believe that we should all be good stewards of our environment and that everything reasonable should be done to curtail pollution. But this siren cry to return to the 18th century when there were no internal combustion engines lest we somehow freeze/burn/change Mother Gaia is just too much.

Sorry Mr. Gore and Co, I just can’t buy that five pound bag and the ten pounds of $h!t you are selling….

Obama and Guns: The Cold Facts

Posted by Raven on 14th June 2008

Here’s facts about Obama and Guns. Facts speak louder than elegant rich deep voices which deceive us. From the NRA:

FACT: Barack Obama voted to allow reckless lawsuits designed to bankrupt the firearms industry.1

FACT: Barack Obama wants to re-impose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban.2

FACT: Barack Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.3

FACT:
Barack Obama has endorsed a complete ban on handgun ownership.2

FACT: Barack Obama supports local gun bans in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and other cities.4

FACT:
Barack Obama voted to uphold local gun bans and the criminal prosecution of people who use firearms in self-defense.5

His real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign rhetoric! Look instead to what he has said and done during his entire political career.

I would have preferred a gradual adjustment

Posted by Raven on 12th June 2008

What is this?

Barack Obama wants to increase gas prices through a windfall profits tax that consumers will wind up paying and, as it did in the Carter era, decrease supply and increase our dependence on foreign oil.

In his latest gaffe, Obama told CNBC he didn’t really object to $4 gas, just that it occurred too quickly. Obama said: “I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment.”

Uh huh? Ok so let’s slowly increase the prices so people don’t notice, Obama? He says this as though it were a planned program or something. And this idiOt has a damn good chance of being our next President.

How to Keep People Unemployed: Pay Them!

Posted by Raven on 11th June 2008

I find myself becoming less and less tolerant of any form of government handout to people. I used to think unemployment laws were a good thing. People who got laid off needed a safety net with income until they could secure another job. Now, I see people abusing it for months, and some, for years. It’s a waste of money.

WASHINGTON - John McCain is just one of dozens of Republicans abandoning President Bush to join Democrats who want to extend unemployment payments.

“We have to extend the unemployment benefits,” McCain said yesterday on CNBC. “We have to . . . because we all know Americans are hurting.”

Why? Why do WE have to provide anything? What ever happened to the idea that we took care of ourselves? When I was a little kid, my Dad told me the first thing I HAD to do when I got a job, was SAVE money. Back then my “job” was to feed the dogs and make sure they got outside every morning. My pay was pennies of course…but even with that I managed to save several dollars over a years’ time.

Later in life, when I began working for a living, I heeded my Dad’s words and saved enough money to cover my expenses for 3 months…then I added to my security back up bank 6 months worth of income. Just in case something happened.

To this day I still have that much saved. I don’t need unemployment money. Why should I have to pay into the mass pool of people who don’t plan and save? This pool is cleverly called insurance- but it’s anything but that. It’s welfare, pure and simple.

Dozens of House Republicans are likely to abandon Bush on a vote this week to award 13 additional weeks of unemployment compensation to people who’ve used up their benefits. Republican leaders and staff aides conceded that they were unlikely to be able to prevent Democrats from getting enough votes to override a veto.

The legislation would make more than 1 million people immediately eligible for extended benefits, with 3 million more becoming eligible in coming months. A House vote is expected as early as tomorrow. Benefits vary by state, but the nationwide average is about $300 a week.

Why add more time? SO that people can sit around and suck their thumbs as they feel sorry for themselves over a lay off? COME ON!

I can guarantee one thing: If there were no such thing as Unemployment insurance, people would get off their collective asses and find work, FAST. The work might be “demeaning” (at a McD’s, oh my gosh!); it might be a job that doesn’t require a fancy degree or experience (Lord NO!!), or it might mean taking on two jobs to make ends meet. Whatever…it’s better than forcing everyone to pay for those who want to cherry pick a job and get paid 2/3’s of their previous years’ income while doing nothing so.

The GOP and others who are pushing this are not true Republicans. And not conservatives either. By paying people to stay unemployed, we’re adding to the unemployment numbers. Am I missing something here?

UPDATE: The House Refuses to Extend Unemployment Benefits.

GOOD.

Obama and War Crime Charges

Posted by Raven on 11th June 2008

Obama is open to the idea of charging previous Administration members with war crimes? No. Don’t count on it. The immature little boy with big dumbo ears is very naive and it shows every time he opens his mouth.

Obama said that as president he would indeed ask his new Attorney General and his deputies to “immediately review the information that’s already there” and determine if an inquiry is warranted — but he also tread carefully on the issue, in line with his reputation for seeking to bridge the partisan divide. He worried that such a probe could be spun as “a partisan witch hunt.” However, he said that equation changes if there was willful criminality, because “nobody is above the law.”

The question was inspired by a recent report by ABC News, confirmed by the Associated Press, that high-level officials including Vice President Dick Cheney and former Cabinet secretaries Colin Powell, John Ashcroft and Donald Rumsfeld, among others, met in the White House and discussed the use of waterboarding and other torture techniques on terrorism suspects.

Uh huh? Obama will not pursue this. Guaranteed. Why? Because he knows it would be political suicide to do so. Sure- he’ll make the noise and have his people check and look and review…but that is as far as it will go.

Someday, he might be in the position of being forced to approve things that might upset the weak knees of his liberal co horts- in the name of national security. Someday, he might be charged with war crimes too…and he will be advised against messing with the prerogatives of the leadership of the US government, and Presidential power.

Exploiting Illegal Domestic Workers

Posted by Raven on 7th June 2008

One reason we should do everything in our power to curb and cut back the invasion of illegal immigrants is the simple fact that American businesses and private employers exploit these people.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - She says she crossed the border from Mexico and found work as a live-in housekeeper for a family that never let her out of their sight.

At first, her employers paid her $200 a month for cooking, cleaning and care-taking from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week. Then they stopped paying the woman, who did not want her name used because she is in the country illegally.

Still, she stayed. She had nowhere else to go. She said her bosses told her that if she left, she could be arrested and thrown back to Mexico, where her family had no means of support.

I can dare say that the employers in this situation were…LIBERALS. And I do question the honesty of ANY illegal who is bringing forth complaints: They have every reason to lie and no incentive to be honest.

Nonetheless, this is the kind of conditions illegals will face when working under-the-table, in the US. In fact, any person who is hired privately by non-corporate businesses have few rights.

Domestic workers have no right to overtime, sick time, vacation, health care and workers’ compensation in most states, and the immigrants among them often have it even worse.

Remember though: ALL these people MAKE the choice in their employment. No one forces a one of them to do this for a living. I have no sympathy nor do I shed a tear.

But the weak kneed, limp dicked and soft bodied liberals (who I firmly believe are the exploiters) have some sympathy:

But many domestic workers are finding their voices. They are suing employers who abuse them, organizing cooperatives to demand fair wages and lobbying politicians to change laws that exclude household workers from labor protections most employees take for granted.

Last June, immigrant household workers at the United States Social Forum in Atlanta - a gathering of social activists - formed the National Domestic Worker Alliance to campaign for state and federal laws guaranteeing basic labor rights.

The alliance, made up of 20 organizations from across the country, is holding the first ever national convention for domestic workers from Thursday through Sunday in New York City, where the host organization, Domestic Workers United, is pushing state lawmakers to sign a Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights.

That legislation, which would be the first of its kind in the country, would require that domestic workers receive such rights as one day of rest per week and advance notice of termination - standard practice for most other workers.

“The law has always treated this sector differently and less than equal to others,” said Ai-Jen Poo, an organizer for Domestic Workers United, which describes itself as an organization of Caribbean, Latin American and African workers.

“What this bill of rights does is put into place a few basic things,” Poo added. “The way we talk about it, this is really about respect.”

This article skirts around with it’s words. These workers are illegal immigrants- most of them- and can we forget that they have NO rights especially equal to American workers (who are being displaced by the illegals?)

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 1.5 million domestic workers across the country. A definitive count is nearly impossible since many of the workers are in the country illegally, and many collect income that goes unreported on taxes.

By far, the most exploited are the most hidden: the live-in housekeeper/nannies who may be new to this country, probably alone and thus most easily abused, said Pierrette Hondagneu-Sotelo, a sociologist at the University of Southern California who has written a book about domestic workers.

“The employers may take away her passport,” Hondagneu-Sotelo said. “And she may not know anyone else in this country. She is not familiar with labor laws here, and even her employer may not be familiar with them. So it creates a very ripe situation for abuse.”

Unreported income costs US all. And these abuses are not true abuse. No one is being taunted and harmed and hurt; they are working. They made a choice. It is wrong for their employers to NOT pay them- this is exploitation. There’s a big difference between the two.

The group operates a labor center where employers can call when they need help. The workers are assured hourly wages of at least $11 to $17 an hour, with a 3-hour, $42 minimum. They also get the legal support from the women’s collective should the employer fail to treat them fairly.

I’m sorry. NO ONE IS GOING to pay anyone $17.00 an hour to clean houses or cook for families! That’s absurd to even ask for, never mind demand. At those rates, Americans would love to be hired into these jobs. Fair treatment is subjective…unions and the like expect hours of breaks and days of time off; ridiculous wages and expensive benefit packages. We need look no further to the auto industry to see the massive plant closings related to the high costs of maintaining employment for the UAW and other unions. Most people are content with being paid for what they’re skills are worth; cleaning is not a high skill. Fercryingoutloud.

Any American citizen who chooses these terms for their employment gets no sympathy from me. Illegals who do this DO have some of my soft hearted empathy- BUT- it only goes so far. They also made the choice to illegally enter the US, to accept illegal employment offers and as far as I am concerned, they have no right to DEMAND anything. Their employers however, should be punished to the full extent of the law (which is not much right now sadly.)

We need to stop this bulloney. Close the damn borders; kick out every illegal we find and punish their employers with prison time and huge fines and rendering them forever unable to start a business again. Once this all happens, I believe we won’t read stories like this.
