You can’t make this up.

The Atlanta public transportation system, MARTA, has announced that the name of its “yellow line” train route will be changed to “gold line”, due to complaints from the city’s Asian community. From FoxNews:

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority issued a statement Thursday afternoon announcing it would change the name of the line to the “gold line.”

“The expressed concerns regarding the use of the phrase ‘yellow line’ will be addressed in the most expeditious and cost-effective manner possible,” MARTA officials said in the statement.

Ever since the early 1980’s, the Washington DC metro has had a “yellow line”, its five rail lines each being named for a color. In all the time I’ve lived in the area, in either Virginia or Maryland, I have never heard of Asians objecting to the name of Metro’s “yellow line”. Or Native Americans objecting to the name “red line”, for that matter.

Will we also get to see “gold cards” in soccer, a military or civil defense “gold alert”, or a “gold-bellied sapsucker”?

Halloween Costume isn’t PC… Roswell Aliens protest…

Posted by Duncan on 17th October 2009

I can’t believe Target bended and gave….

LOS ANGELES — A Southern California immigrant rights group on Friday asked the Target store chain and a costume company to stop selling an “illegal alien” Halloween costume it said is offensive to immigrants.

The costume features the mask of an alien with a green card and an orange jumpsuit with “illegal alien” written across the front.

Target is removing the costume from the site after receiving several complaints, company spokesman Joshua Thomas said Friday. The store never intended to sell the outfit but included it in its online offerings by mistake, he said.

They’re referring to this costume mind you.

Illegal Immigrant Costume

Yes. I know. OutRAGEous. Can’t believe how cruel this is. WHAT?!?! Are you kidding me!?! There “rights” groups get on my nerves, with all of their “sensitivity”. After all, there are no such things as “illegal aliens”.

The preferred nomenclature is “undocumented citizens“, after all…

Si se puede…. hmph…

Then here is one of another “Hispanic” stereotypes that no one is from the illegal immigration supporting side is screaming about.

Waiting for protests for these horrible costumes as well:

Undocumented Date-For-A-Night Provider

Bollywood Actor

The other Indian, with the feather, not the dot.

Insensitive to the “Mentally Challenged”

Insulting the Sultan

Ruh-roh Buddha!

And that’s just one website, in the male section. I hate to think how women are objectified in their section. Awaiting more protests of other Halloween costumes.

Waiting. (crickets chirping)

Speaking of Undocumented Citizens: Teach has a story about how the DOJ isn’t exactly worried about enforcing law…

Some Midweek Links

Posted by Bigfoot on 29th July 2009

Things have been pretty slow around here at ARS, but the news cycle never stops. Here are a few items I’ve spotted during the last few days.

:redstar: Dozens of illegal aliens, convicted of serious crimes, have been released back into the US after serving their sentences, because of fraudulent “refusal letters”.

:redstar: Speaking of criminals after being released from jail, Michael Vick hasn’t found any NFL team willing to take him, with only one expressing any interest.

:redstar: For criminal not yet taken into custody, resisting arrest just got three times as risky as before.

:redstar: From Fox Nation, guess which words are banned from children’s school textbooks.

:redstar: Posted as a TwitPic, a graph of inflation-adjusted yearly federal spending growth.

:redstar: About 4,000 years ago, a resident of (what is now) Iraq named Abraham packed up his bags (well, actually, his cattle, sheep, tents, etc.) and left his home in Ur, thought to be close to the local ziggurat. Where are these places? On a US military base.

:redstar: Something to consider before implementing socialized medicine Obamacare: American survival rates for most cancers are better than for Europeans or Canadians.

:redstar: How to pay for said Obamacare? New taxes on fat people’s food and/or some “high-end” insurance plans.

:redstar: It was wrong for President Bush to rush legislation through Congress, without time for reading and debate, according to this Senator-elect.

:redstar: How bad is the housing market? In June, foreclosures in California alone exceeded the total number of new homes sale, for the entire country.

:redstar: Besides all the residential foreclosures, banks are now facing another potential headache, troubled loans on commercial real estate.

:redstar: And finally, not only is Michael Jackson still dead, but Brett Favre is still retired.

Some Late Wednesday Links

This coming fall, Brown University will be replacing Columbus Day with “Fall Weekend”.

Eating beans before playing soccer is not a good idea.

Esquire gives their list of 31 things that every man should own.

A beer-wielding woman in Magnolia, Arkansas starts a brawl – at a wake.

Actor Kal Penn, who had campaigned for Barry, goes from the TV show House to the White House.

Looks like some of Barry’s supporters might get their wish. From Representative José Serrano (D-NY) comes a proposal to repeal the 22nd Amendment.

If you want more offshore drilling for oil and natural gas, here’s how to let your views be known to the Department of the Interior.

The American crew of the hijacked Maersk Alabama have retaken their ship. It was the first hostage-taking of Americans by muslim pirates in 200 years. However, according to the crew, the captain is still being held hostage by the pirates.

The Obama administration’s position on warrantless wiretapping has become the same as that of his predecessor, which candidate Obama once decried.

Secrecy Dominates Government Actions: The Bush administration has ignored public disclosure rules and has invoked a legal tool known as the “state secrets” privilege more than any other previous administration to get cases thrown out of civil court.

Two months old, but still interesting: From the American Thinker, it’s media credibility instead of the polar icecaps that is in meltdown.

America: Love Her or Leave Her? Not an Option

Posted by Raven on 27th December 2008

One thing that seems to get people GOING, when it comes to politics, is the WHO LOVES AMERICA more argument: Liberals or Conservatives..Democrats or Republicans.

If Conservatives are blinded by love, then Liberals are blinded by hate.

Joel Stein pens a sort-of-comical article about this:

But I’ve come to believe conservatives are right. They do love America more. Sure, we liberals claim that our love is deeper because we seek to improve the United States by pointing out its flaws. But calling your wife fat isn’t love. True love is the blind belief that your child is the smartest, cutest, most charming person in the world, one you would gladly die for. I’m more in “like” with my country.

I think we ALL love America, but those on the Right not only love this country, they RESPECT it. They respect and admire the Constitution, the Founding Fathers, the idea of Freedom. Conservatives and Republicans have the pioneer attitude. They admire independence, hard work and personal responsibility. America’s front yard is the best, greenest, more awesome yard in town, in the eyes of many Conservatives. We don’t put blinders on however: We simply see no need to “improve” things that have little value to the nation as a whole.

Conservatives feel personally blessed to have been born in the only country worth living in. I, on the other hand, just feel lucky to have grown up in a wealthy democracy. If it had been Australia, Britain, Ireland, Canada, Italy, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, Israel or one of those Scandinavian countries with more relaxed attitudes toward sex, that would have been fine with me too.

Heh…note he states “wealthy” democracy. Money ranks high to most everyone, regardless of politics.

When a Democrat loses the presidential race, real lefties talk a lot about moving to Canada. When Republicans lose, they don’t do that. Though, to be fair, they don’t have a lot of nearby conservative options. Not even Hannity is a committed enough conservative to yell, “If Obama wins, I’m moving to Singapore.”

I wouldn’t ever consider leaving this country no matter WHO is elected. It has nothing to do with a lack of alternative nations willing to host me; I like living in America and I know, history shows me, Presidents come and go. The political damage they inflict can be changed. America is a fluid nation. Nothing is ever written on stone walls that cannot be taken down.

This doesn’t mean I’m not fascinated by American history, impressed by our Constitution or don’t appreciate our optimism and entrepreneurial spirit. In fact, I love everything Hannity listed on his TV special other than Madonna. But there are plenty of things I don’t like about America: our foreign policy, our religious fundamentalism, our provincialism, our intellectual laziness, our acceptance of sweat suits in public.

Foreign policy, again, is related to politics. I think Mr Stein should be telling us he HATES President Bush…but being a typical liberal, he cannot separate the two- the President or the Country. I love freedom. If I wish to wear sweat pants in public, I should be able to do so without judgment. Mr Stein judges people on petty things- which to me, is intellectual snobbery, a form of intellectual laziness. It’s easier to mock others then it is to get to know them for who they are.

Despite Beck’s rationalization, I still think conservatives love America for the same tribalistic reasons people love whatever groups they belong to. These are the people who are sure Christianity is the only right religion, that America is the best country, that the Republicans have the only good candidates, that gays have cooties.

Not all Conservatives are religious whacks, Mr Stein. And yes, I believe those who push it into others’ faces are overstepping THEIR purposes here on Earth. And gays don’t have cooties. But, in the order of Mother Nature, (and not some God)- people, animals- are here on Earth to reproduce. Homosexuals cannot do that. I don’t believe being gay is natural. That doesn’t mean I HATE them. Some of my best friends are gay.

I believe all people should have the right to chose the groups they wish to belong to- religions, political parties, and so on. If this makes me a primal, tribal bitch, so be it. Freedom rules.

I love America. But, like liberals, there are things I HATE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY. And, ironically, it is Liberal Policy and Mindset that creates the things I HATE.

The Left, for the most part, love America but not as she is. Or ever was. Liberals and Democrats have little respect for the Constitution, the Fathers, and in spite of their high pitched denials, they have much disdain for freedom.

They prefer hand holding to independence. Only in America do we have entire classes of people who are protected from their own laziness-able to get government assistance for education, jobs, welfare benefits- all for little to no cost, while others bust their butts working three jobs, going to school AND raising a family at the same time, with no help. People will never appreciate what is handed to them as much as what they work hard for.

They keep the race card game playing on, and on. Only in America do we have racial divides that continue to exist- because the very people who call themselves victims blindly follow leaders who make a lot of cold cash keeping these people in that coveted role.

They don’t value HARD WORK. Which I do, every day, for a living. I earn every penny I make- and need those pennies to survive. It pisses me off to know I GIVE away a huge chunk of my earnings, to my government- who in turns gives it away to someone else who DOES NOT work hard, oft by choice. Where is the freedom there? I would MUCH prefer to determine where my money goes- and I would and have indeed helped others less fortunate than myself (if you can believe there ARE people more poor than me!)

I could go on and on, but this post would turn into a book. Liberal policies and the like RUIN the true spirit of America, which is FINE with liberals since they do HATE America.

No matter: This country will survive- the doubts arise as to who will be left standing. I say Conservatives will be: Because we have that trait called independence. And we love freedom. A winning combination that never fails.

Un-freaking-believable!

Posted by Duncan on 18th December 2008

Nope. We can’t have any mention of Jesus or Christmas in our publyk skoolz, so instead we have to fill our “holiday” programs with another religion, the Religion of Gore…

No. I shi’ite you not. WTF, O? There are candy canes and kids wearing reindeer antlers. And we’ve thrown global warming into what should be a Christmas play. When they took the reason for the season out, there was a void. And then they replaced it with their own version of a religion. Sickening. Makes me want to vomit, actually. Another reason why I am seriously considering private schools for my children.

U.K. – Screw opening the gates to the barbarians, give them the keys!

Posted by Duncan on 15th December 2008

A British prison has decided not to include a crucifix in the décor of its new chapel for fear of offending Muslim inmates.

The ‘multi-faith space’ at HMP Lewes is divided in two sections, according to the Daily Mail. One half-features heated footbaths for Muslim worshipers; the other side, dedicated to Christian prayer, features a removable altar and a plain wooden cross – also removable.

Plans to include the traditional Christian crucifix were erased from the chapel’s blueprints on the advice of a Muslim imam, the Daily Mail reported.

“We see this as a vastly improved facility and very much welcome the fact that the prison has an imam.” Amanda Hamblin, chair of the prison’s Independent Monitoring Board told the Mail.”

A source from the prison disagreed, reportedly telling the Mail, “It’s just the normal PC brigade poking its nose in when it isn’t needed.”

Oh dear Lord, the United Kingdom has pretty much gone coo-coo for coco-puffs and given’ control over to the barbarians. OFCOURSE an Imam is going to advise that Christian symbols be removed. Cut down on the competition when you’re trying to convert people. Did they bother to ask the Christian priest/minister whether or not they would like any Islamic symbols removed lest they “offend” the Christians. Probably not, unless it was the Archbishop of Canterbury that is.

I just stand in awe of how far down the PC hole Great Britain has fallen. It is sad to see a once great people extend their necks willingly for a foreign invader to cut.
