Fellow Demonstrators: We Might be Pooping Our Panties

Posted by Raven on 17th June 2008

Planning to demonstrate? Are you an activist? Watch out for the governments’ latest weapon of choice. It’s harmless, really, but causes some embarrASSment in many senses of the word.

Political activists planning protest rallies at the upcoming Democratic Convention in Denver have their stomachs in knots over a rumor about a crowd control weapon - known as the “crap cannon” - that might be unleashed against them.

Also called “Brown Note,” it is believed to be an infrasound frequency that debilitates a person by making them defecate involuntarily.

First of all, I seriously doubt this “weapon” exists as described. In fact, Mythbusters says it is not. Too bad, though. This would make an excellent weapon of MY choice to use against the losers who have planned the re-Create-68 demonstrations in Denver.

But Glenn Spangnuolo, also with Re-create 68, isn’t taking any chances. He said he has no doubt that Brown Note exists, and is preparing his group for confrontation. “Whether it causes someone to defecate in their pants or not, I don’t know that,” said Spagnuolo. “What I do know is that it causes a person to be disoriented and lose their equilibrium resulting in a nauseous feeling in their stomach.”

More troubling to Spagnuolo is the “Active Denial System” or “ADS,” a ray gun used to send high levels of microwave frequencies that cause a burning sensation the skin.

He described ADS as an “indiscriminate weapon” and said “there’s no long-term testing on what happens to the body when exposed to those kinds of microwave frequencies.”

Glenn has a big ego. I posted about this so called demonstration months ago and he commented; since then he has visited this site frequently, using search terms that include his name.

Dancing with the Devil: government versus the environment

Posted by civil truth on 16th June 2008

Todays Wall Street Journal features a fascinating article by Mary Anastasia O’Grady that brought to my attention for the first time the two-faced game that government plays with environmentalism with regards to natural resources development.

In her article, titled Why Brazil Isn’t Ashamed to Exploit Its Oil, the author provides a number of examples to defend the following thesis:

I have another theory. And mine fits the pattern of resource development – or lack thereof – all over the Western Hemisphere. It comes down to this: Where government has the property right, restrictions on development tend to be low. But when the private sector is the owner, environmental concerns blossom.

Or to put it another way, when natural resources are in the hands of private companies, the national government teams with environmental organizations and local governmental agencies to block development of the resources.

When governmental agencies hold a controlling financial interest, or at least a substantial financial interest, then they override environmental concerns in favor of aggressively developing the resource.

In other words, no surprise - give government a big enough piece of the revenue pie for its own purposes, then blocks to development on environmental grounds conveniently disappear.

Good Damn Riddance

Posted by Raven on 16th June 2008

Good news:

Hundreds of Brazilians have returned in recent months to Governador Valadares, an area in the southeast of the country.

Sociology professor Sueli Siqueira, who interviewed hundreds of the returnees, found that 43 percent left the United States because they weren’t satisfied with their earnings. About 28 percent had been deported. “The cost-benefit of this experience of migration stopped being positive,” Siqueira said, “and they began thinking about coming back.”

The departures are evidence that the Bush administration’s decision to tighten the screws on enforcement is paying off, say proponents of stricter immigration laws.

Several states passed their own laws, from tighter employment-verification requirements to authorizing local police to act as immigration agents.

Passage of similar laws in Georgia, coupled with a construction slowdown, prompted Salinas to join a relative in south Florida.

“That’s the whole point of enforcement, to change the climate, to make it as hard as possible for you as an illegal alien, so you can’t just melt away into the shadows,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington group favoring sharp curbs on immigration.

But the crackdown’s critics say it has spread fear among the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country without solving the underlying problem.

Goes to show these immigrants are not here in the US out of want of a new life, like their ancestors of the early 1900’s…nope…these people are parasites with no desire to become Americans. They wish to bleed us dry and go home when the blood stops flowing.

Dads: Be Dads, says Obama

Posted by Raven on 16th June 2008

Liberal Stuffs of the Day:

CHICAGO — Barack Obama celebrated Father’s Day by calling on black fathers, who he said are “missing from too many lives and too many homes,” to become active in raising their children.

“They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it,” the Democratic presidential candidate said Sunday at a largely black church in his hometown.

Once again the Obomb drops a big one. He sends mixed signals with this message, which is a very good message…but doesn’t jive with his political affiliation. Obama needs to look no further than his own Democrat party positions to ask WHY the men are acting like boyz; why they reject their kids.

Read Civil Truth’s Sermon from yesterday to ponder this further.

Right Wingers are Better People

Posted by Raven on 16th June 2008

A most excellent read. If you’re a liberal though, you might not agree with my assessment. LOL!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

There is plenty of data that shows that Right-wingers are happier, more generous to charities, less likely to commit suicide - and even hug their children more than those on the Left. In my experience, they are also more honest, friendly and well-adjusted.

Much of this springs from the destructive influence of modern liberal ideas.

In the Sixties, we saw the beginning of a narcissism and self-absorption that gripped the Left and has not let go.

The full-scale embrace of the importance of self-awareness, self-discovery and being ‘true’ to oneself, along with the idea that the State should care for the less fortunate, has created a swathe of Left-wing people who want to outsource their obligations to others.

Ouch! There is much more to read though, and it’s all the cold hard truth. I used to call myself a liberal and it brings me much shame. Thankfully I saw the right light and came to it, and have been a better person ever since.

It’s Tough to be A Proud American

Posted by Raven on 15th June 2008

A lot of people like to hold Obama to account for his apparent hatred of America, or at the least, his lack of pride of his country…but we need to be fair and balanced on this. McCain is no better.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

WASHINGTON - Republican presidential candidate John McCain admitted on Saturday it can be difficult at times to be proud of the United States.

“I’ll admit to you … that it’s tough in some respects,” McCain said when asked by a questioner at a town hall meeting how to be proud of the country.

“We have not always done things right and we mismanaged the war in Iraq very badly for nearly four years.”

I’m sure the McCain apologists will tell me this was taken out of context; that it meant something else. Whatever. America isn’t perfect and we have made mistakes.

But make no mistake on this: I am always proud of my country and, it’s never hard to be so. No matter what.

Life is Tough For Democrats: Pizza or Grilled Cheese

Posted by Raven on 15th June 2008

Liberal stuffs of the day:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democrats tapped a teacher from upstate New York to make the case that their party will do more for working Americans than Republicans will.

Jeff Alberici, an eighth-grade history teacher in Auburn, N.Y., was chosen to deliver the Democrats’ Saturday radio address - an unusual choice for a weekly task usually performed by elected officials.

Alberici, 37, described how the rising prices of gasoline and food makes it tough for him and his wife Megan to pay bills and still save for their three young kids’ college tuition.

“We’ll be okay, but let me put it this way: on the occasional nights when we used to order a pizza, now we’re sticking with grilled cheese sandwiches,” he said.

Alberici said he supports Democrats because they “understand what families like ours are going through, and they’re trying to make things better.”

What’s wrong with grilled cheese sandwiches?

The poor soul of a teacher! Having to make such choices! Pizza or grilled cheese? How pathetic.

What? The Democrats will make sure that everyone can order pizza for delivery? Okay thats a good reason to elect them.

Stop Whining About Gas Prices: We’re getting what we deserve!

Posted by Raven on 14th June 2008

There’s been a lot of propaganda the past week, about the price of gas and it’s effect on all of us. The Left is trying to tax the profits of Big Oil- who are raking in WAY too much cash these days. The Right is trying to convince people that if we drill within our borders the price could go down.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Both sides are full of gas (AKA Shit) Finger pointing, blame games and the like are getting old. I agree with Rick, that all of this is OUR collective faults.

This doesn’t help our immediate pain which brings me back to where the blame should lie for this fiasco. We voters made perfectly rational and logical choices to elect politicians who refused to drill offshore, in ANWR, on federal lands – anywhere one spotted owl or caribu might be affected.

There is nothing wrong with this, I might add. There are many among us who continually pat themselves on the back for being good stewards of the land, fighting the good fight against greedy oil companies who would rape the land and coastline in the name of profit.

These same people are much less willing to pat themselves on the back for getting us into our current dilemma. Again, there is nothing basically wrong with being in favor of protecting the environment at all costs – the most obvious cost being cheap gasoline. The question is why are we not accepting responsibility for what is clearly something that is our collective fault.

It has been proven that environmental protection is a luxury that only rich nation’s can afford. We have been willing to pay this price both because it is the right thing to do and because we could afford a small loss in economic growth in exchange for cleaner air and water as well as protecting wildlife.

But times change. The world is changing. And unless we can find a way to balance legitimate concerns about the environment with our need for more oil, the present situation will continue and get worse. This means that environmentalists have to acknowledge that the policies they support are leading us to ruin while the pro-drilling crowd must acknowledge that we can’t go drilling everywhere there’s a drop of oil to be found.

So now what? The price of gas has been high up my way for over three months now; averaging around 4.40 a gallon. People are complaining. They’re blaming Big Oil AND the federal government. Do we want to see big oil drills and the mess associated with them in our backyards? Or do we push for alternative sources and means to power our ever growing needs?

Whatever we decide we want, it is up to each and every one of us in who we vote for. Energy policy is important. One thing to remember is every political point to this has an agenda- both parties stand to reap monetary benefit from their proposals. I say, these proposals are not in the best interest of Americans either. Energy policy is a lot like Immigration: Too many people in the wrong places are controlling the very problems that we peasants must pay for. It’s time to think independently and vote accordingly.

Obama and Guns: The Cold Facts

Posted by Raven on 14th June 2008

Here’s facts about Obama and Guns. Facts speak louder than elegant rich deep voices which deceive us. From the NRA:

FACT: Barack Obama voted to allow reckless lawsuits designed to bankrupt the firearms industry.1

FACT: Barack Obama wants to re-impose the failed and discredited Clinton Gun Ban.2

FACT: Barack Obama voted to ban almost all rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.3

FACT:
Barack Obama has endorsed a complete ban on handgun ownership.2

FACT: Barack Obama supports local gun bans in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and other cities.4

FACT:
Barack Obama voted to uphold local gun bans and the criminal prosecution of people who use firearms in self-defense.5

His real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign rhetoric! Look instead to what he has said and done during his entire political career.

McCain Said WHAT?? Bloomberg?? Oh No.

Posted by Raven on 13th June 2008

I don’t know HOW I missed this news. My support for McCain is quickly fading now. I learned of his potential choice of Mayor Michael Bloomberg for VP over at Bruce’s:

I still think McCain’s a complete piece of crap, but anything’s better than…

Huh?

What’s that newspaper you’re waving in front of my face?

Gimme that.

Oh, that’s real nice.

McCain’s now saying he wouldn’t rule out Michael Bloomberg as a possible running mate? Are you fucking kidding me? We are talking about the same Michael Bloomberg here, right? Michael Bloomberg, the very embodiment of the Nanny State? The same Michael Bloomberg who has made it his life’s mission to bury the firearms industry under mountains of costly litigation?

This would be a deal breaker for me too. To have Bloomberg as his running mate would cause me to NOT vote for McCain. I would write in another name or not even bother voting. Like Bruce, I might be found at the range unloading all day…feeling content and proud, soul intact.

I would have preferred a gradual adjustment

Posted by Raven on 12th June 2008

What is this?

Barack Obama wants to increase gas prices through a windfall profits tax that consumers will wind up paying and, as it did in the Carter era, decrease supply and increase our dependence on foreign oil.

In his latest gaffe, Obama told CNBC he didn’t really object to $4 gas, just that it occurred too quickly. Obama said: “I think that I would have preferred a gradual adjustment.”

Uh huh? Ok so let’s slowly increase the prices so people don’t notice, Obama? He says this as though it were a planned program or something. And this idiOt has a damn good chance of being our next President.
