Joining the Party… Tea that is….

“The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield, and government to gain ground.” – Thomas Jefferson

That’s right. After much reading, studying, thought, deliberation and careful consideration, I have decided that it is time for me to become more active in politics. No. I’m not ready to run for office, nor do I consider myself to the consummate politician, as I speak my mind too much and I don’t have enough pragmatic bones in my body.

However, I believe that I can help be part of a movement to retake this country from the progressives, of both major political parties, as they try to institute even more nanny state controls and continue to put the final nails in the coffin of our Constitutional system of government.

Just as our Founders believed that government closet to the people would be the most accountable to the people, we must start taking back our local governments and start breaking our fellow citizens of the “What can government do for me” mentality that has come to dominate our politics.

Just as the quote attributed to Andrew Tytler says: Read the rest of this entry »

Doctor? I don’t need to be no steenking doctor!

Posted by Bigfoot on 13th August 2009

When Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) held a town meeting in Houston this past Tuesday, a woman named Roxana Mayer, identifying herself as a physician, expressed her support for the pending health care reform legislation. Only one problem – she’s not a licensed physican. She’s not even involved in the medical profession. She’s a grad student in social work and an Obama delegate. Patterico has the details, including his e-mail exchange with Mayer.

This raises two questions:
1. Are there any laws against impersonating a medical doctor?
2. If this is not Astroturf, what is?

Just a Grunt, at JammieWearingFool, has this to say.

We can only imagine what the left’s reaction would be if someone opposed to Obamacare falsely claimed to be doctor. But in the meantime, if Rep. Jackson Lee has to deal with any more fake physicians, she could always adopt the following as her theme song.

This should be signed by every “Blue” state resident

Posted by Duncan on 6th June 2009

who moves into a “red” state.

Seriously.

I know Raven would agree as we watch New Hampshire be invaded by those fleeing the People’s Democratic Republic of Taxachusetts and New York…

Cranky @ Six Meat Buffet is DA MAN for thinking of this…. we should have it incorporated into federal law…

Texas Governor Perry and Texas House Find Their “Huevos”

Posted by Duncan on 14th April 2009

Ofcourse, the below is all utter political tripe if our state representatives, combined with other states passing these resolutions, don’t have any teeth to back them up. Otherwise this is little more than an angry-worded U.N. resolution to (enter third world dictator/despot here).

“Texas Gov. Rick Perry issued a statement Thursday saying he has joined other state leaders in supporting House Concurrent Resolution 50.

The resolution aims to reaffirm state rights guaranteed under the 10th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, and to serve as a notice to the federal government that it should desist measures that go beyond its constitutionally protected powers.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

Perry said Resolution 50 re-asserts Texas’ sovereignty over all powers not under the federal government’s mandated authority.

This could be little more than Perry posturing for his reelection….

Do you know whose dog you just killed?

Posted by Duncan on 7th April 2009

First of all, killing family pets is just something evil, and these punks would have eventually gone on to kill people just as callously as well.

But imagine their misfortune to kill the family pet of a former NAVY Seal and war hero. They’re lucky that once he got them to pull over, the sheriff was there, because I have the feeling that these assclowns would have pulled their guns on him, and then he would have quickly double-tapped them all in the forehead, thus eliminating costly trials and jail time for the taxpayer.

Besides, witnessing criminal mischief at night is grounds for a lawful gun-owner and property-owner to lawfully discharge a firearm. In other words, in Texas, if you are being a scumbag criminal, we can shoot you.

God Bless Texas… and may God continue to Bless Marcus Luttrell.

Would not the 90% Special Tax passed by the House….

Posted by Duncan on 20th March 2009

… be considered a “bill of attainder“, prohibited by the U.S. Constitution?

The purpose of this tax is a work around to the contracts that were legally binding and also approved by Congress and the President. However, it targets a extremely small, politically despised, group of people and takes away their money that they were legally entitled to. Is this not the same as Congress finding them guilty without the benefit of a jury trial and simply instituting a fine on their earnings, albeit called a “tax”. A rose by any other name and all of that…

This is a dangerous precedent being set if this passed Congress and is signed into law by the President.

I have been hearing grumblings around my part of Texas, with some people throwing around words like “secession” and “Texas was its own republic one time, we can do it again”. I do not know if these people actually realize the gravity (the last time we had states secede their was a war and hundreds of thousands killed) attached to those words or not. But the fact that it is now being openly discussed should give our “betters” in Washington D.C. some pause as they continue to pursue the transformation of the federal government into a national government and reduce the states to vassal provinces of Versailles on the Potomac.

On another interesting note, I went to go buy some .30-30 for my Marlin lever-action rifle, and both Academy and Wal-Mart have been completely sold out of it, for several weeks if not months. I had my father pick me up some boxes where he lives, and I’m thinking about ordering some from Cheaper Than Dirt. Looks like people are indeed hording their ammo, atleast around here…

Finally, Texas found their balls….

Posted by Duncan on 21st February 2009

Texas legislators introduced a state resolution declaring what should have been a moot point to begin with. After all, it is not like the 9th and 10th Amendments are anything NEW, despite claims of a “living and breathing Constitution“.

Oklahoma did this earlier as well as Raven’s New Hampshire.

I believe there are 20 or so other states with similar bills pending in their state legislatures. Here is a map showing the states so far:

I was surprised by California’s addition to this list. So I went to the links provided by Mr. Step above, and it looks like the bill he is referring to was introduced back in 1994! And apparently it passed the legislature and was filed with the Secretary of State. Too bad California is crawling to the Feds to beg for some money instead of sucking it up and living within their means..

Looks like the Federal Government’s power grabs starting with FDR and his New Deal are starting to come to a head.

A copy of the bill introduced follows:

Image of Texas Tech’s Football Team

Yep. I knew that #2 Tech couldn’t “seal the deal” and play for the BCS National Championship. They came out and completely fell apart after their first series didn’t result in an immediate touchdown like they’re used to doing. It was like #5 Oklahoma had a player in the offensive huddle. And OU’s defense actually tackled. Mike Leach should have his defense watch the game footage.. of the TT offense, so they can watch OU’s defense actually stopping an offense. I knew it. 65-21 was the score if you care.

(Full Disclosure: Yes, I went to Texas A&M. And yes, I know our team is at the bottom of the Big 12 South. And yes, we lost to both Texas Tech and OU, quite soundly if I remember correctly. Yes, my team is in the lowest pits of football hell. Well, Tech just joined us there as they watched their one chance to go to the “big dance” get swept away almost effortlessly. Schadenfreude, I think is the term.)

Y’all Got A New Writer

Posted by Texas Pundit on 8th October 2008

Hey everybody, this here’s the Texas Pundit.  A  Rip-Snortin, Gol-Darned, Gen-U-Wine Texican here to tell it like it is.  I’m no George Bush or Big Hair Perry, I’m more like Texas John Slaughter.  I’m conservative and damn proud of it. I’m a Texas Veteran and was stationed at Fort Polk and Fort Benning where I went to OCS.  I come from a long line of Army folk and I will be damned if I let anyone put down our military on any post I make, so don’t even try.  I don’t ranch, I don’t do Oil, I damn sure don’t do high falutin Houston Style and as far as I’m concerned, JR Ewing was a pansy that deserved shootin’.

I’ve been invited by the lovely and curvaceous Raven to join this rag-tag bunch of conservative misfits and I aim to take names and kick ass.  If you are one of them libruls you’d best have a good argument up your sleeve cause if you come around me and toss bull shit, I’ll delete your comment or better yet, re-organize it so that Karl Marx will think you are a conservative.

I can’t stand Mr. Obama, he is a damn socialist through and through and even more importantly, he is an empty suit.  He’s like ole George Bush, all hat and no cattle.  I don’t even like Senator McCain as he is far too librul for me.  Mrs. Sarahcuda however is just fine and I expect her to be the Presidential nominee of the Republican Party in 2012 unless John McCain gets up off’n his duff and starts openin’ a can of whoop-ass on Obama.  If he turns in more performances like he did last night he’s gonna lose and this country will survive four years of Obama, but it won’t be nice.

Now, I’m a-willin’ to bet that just because I talk this way, you folk may think I’m some dumb assed hick what wouldn’t know what teat to pull on a cow, but you gotta know that I’m well past drinkin age, I have an advanced degree and have owned corporations.  Still own one in fact.  Not a big one, not a great big money maker, but it’s all mine and that is more than Mr. Obama can say.  I know what it takes to make a payroll, I know what it means to make business mistakes and have to pay for my error.  I know what it takes to help people reach their potential, and by the sweat of their own work, not cause I gave them a handout.

I’ll be postin on this here blog from time to time, not necessarily any thing regular, and you can catch some of what I say over to my other site The Texas Pundit but mayhap if Miss Raven gives good back-rubs, I’ll stick around here.  Oh, and I’ll be usin’ regular English too, this was just an exercise in showin’ y’all my gen-u-wine Texas Bonafides.  We clear on ‘at?

Y’all will be gettin’ used to my sign off too — “At least that’s the way I see it on this side of the Pecos River.” So, you be sure and come back for some out-standin’ commentary and ideas you can take to the bank, and this bank never closes!

At least that’s the way I see it on this side of the Pecos River!
